I'm David Cameron, Owner of Cameron Canine

1997. I have several years of experience working
with large groups of dogs in cageless dog daycare
and boarding facilities. I've also worked for several
years as a veterinary technician. I'm a graduate of
the Triple Crown Academy For Professional Dog
Trainers. I started this business to provide
personalized, professional dog training and
behavior modification solutions. I'm comfortable
working with all breeds of dogs and I'm especially
interested in working with difficult behavior
problems such as aggression, separation anxiety,
and phobias. I am also interested in agility training
and any kind of working dog training. I'm
passionate about my work and am constantly trying
to improve my skills and increase my knowledge.

Mission:
The mission of Cameron Canine Consulting is to provide dog owners with the
information and skills that they need to successfully integrate their dogs into their
lives. In the last several years, dogs have been seen more as family members than
as possessions or as livestock. While this is undoubtedly a good thing, it has raised
some issues because people are treating their dogs as if they were human.
Although people tend to do this out of love for their dogs, it is often detrimental to the
dog as it ignores the differences between our species. Humans and dogs have
evolved together over the last several thousand years, but dogs are still animals with
a different worldview and different needs. In addition to basic needs such as food,
water and shelter, dogs have particular needs that must be addressed in order for
them to have a fulfilled life. These needs include physical exercise, mental
stimulation and clear communication with the members of it’s pack (or family).
Failure to address these needs is the cause of most common behavior problems.
Cameron Canine Consulting helps owners discover which needs they have been
unintentionally neglecting, and helps them devise a plan to address those needs in
the future. Although many pet owners do not realize a dog’s basic need for mental
stimulation and physical exercise, once they are made aware of these needs it is
usually not difficult for them to create a way to meet them. Most behavior problems
stem from flawed communication between dog and owner. Most dog owners do not
have an understanding of how dogs view the world, or the ability to read the body
language and other subtle signals that dogs use to communicate. Cameron Canine
Consulting teaches dog owners how dogs think, communicate, and how to effect
behavioral changes in their dogs using the science of operant and classical
conditioning. Although Cameron Canine Consulting uses some basic obedience
commands to build a healthy relationship between Dog and Owner, The service
provided by Cameron Canine Consulting goes far beyond simple “basic obedience”.
It gives the pet owner the tools and knowledge to live together in a happy, functional
pack/family, addressing all the needs of both the dog and owner.
