Here's a link to an episode of the Jocko Podcast featuring Mike Ritland. I'm a huge fan of Jocko's work, and applying the principles of extreme ownership to dog training has been a game changer for me. I've been hoping that Jocko would bring on a dog trainer, and I couldn't be more pleased with the choice of Mike Ritland. There's a lot of bad info out there in the dog training world. It's been said that the only thing 2 dog trainers can agree on is a third dog trainer's mistakes. I not only agree with the vast majority of what Mike says, I found myself laughing at how often he said things that I say to almost every client. If you are interested in dog training, I'd highly recommend Mike's books.
If you're pressed for time, the first 45 minutes of the podcast are background info that is interesting and relevant, but not directly related to dogs or dog training. The last 30 minutes are support/ads, which have some humorous banter but aren't really relevant. That leaves a good 2 -2.5 hours of incredibly valuable insight into the mind of a true master of the craft of dog training.
